About Special Ed Resource Library

A variety of resources are available from Lakes Country Service Cooperative such as books, articles, videotapes, and assistive technology equipment. A catalogue identifying the materials is placed in the library of each school building. Each low incidence handicap area has special resources listed as well as some general special education resources including early childhood materials that would be of interest to parents.

These resources are available on loan to general and special educators and parents of Region IV. Requests can be made by calling our Media Center at 800-739-3273. There may be time limits on some materials.

RATC Lending Library

Assistive technology equipment is intended to be used on a trial or short term basis for students. If certain assistive technology equipment seems appropriate for a student's use for an indefinite time, districts would need to consider purchasing that equipment for their student. The lending of the equipment gives the team a diagnostic period to determine if it is correct and appropriate for a student. LCSC's Low Incidence Project participates, through an agreement with Minnesota State University Moorhead for Region IV school districts to use assistive technology equipment on loan from the Regional Assistive Technology Center (RATC). This is supported monetarily by a school district, an education district, special education cooperatives and the Low Incidence Project. This eliminates the rental fees for each item. Equipment is picked up and delivered by LCSC's media van service.

To borrow equipment from the RATC call 218-477-4200 or email ratc@mnstate.edu. Please understand that equipment will need to be returned by a designated date unless other arrangements have been made prior to the due date. Equipment can be returned through LCSC's media van service and should be returned in the same condition as when it was loaned. If there is any difficulty in using the equipment, contact the RATC immediately.
